For many, Lent is more than a mere 40-day period; it's an odyssey, a concerted march towards the renewal of the soul. And it clearly highlights the promise of eternal life through Christ's resurrection.

Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, the truly seminal event that distinguishes Christianity. The resurrection offers the promise of eternal life, the forgiveness of sins, and the triumphant vindication of the Son of God.

We may not know exactly what day Jesus was born, but we sure were given major details about his death, burial, and resurrection. This event is what Easter IS ALL ABOUT.

This scripture can deepen the understanding of Easter's promise of new life.

Easter does also user in an array of cherished customs that continue to bind families and communities in the joy of renewed life. From the heartwarming tales of egg hunts and the delight of children crafted into Easter baskets to the poignant tradition of the sunrise service, Easter really is a beautiful holiday, isn't it?

When I lived in Vienna at a ministry that sent Bibles to Romania and other easter European countries, I used to read letters from many of them thanking us and inside was a little red and white Martisor to symbolized the transition from winter to spring, but they were sending us these as symbols of RENEWAL IN CHRIST.
